Nestl\u00e9 says it\u2019s willing to spend more than $2 billion to try and fix that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The world\u2019s biggest foodcompany said in a statement Thursday that it would cut costs in other parts of its business to free up more than 1.5 billion Swiss francs ($1.6 billion) to buy 2 million metric tons of recycled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2019\/06\/11\/health\/microplastics-ingestion-wwf-study-scn-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plastic<\/a>&nbsp;between now and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nestl\u00e9 said it would be paying above the market rate for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2020\/01\/15\/business\/colgate-recycle-toothpaste-tube-trnd\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recycled material<\/a>, part of its strategy to alleviate a shortage of used plastics suitable for food packaging by luring new suppliers into the business.
